Benefits of Activity

We recognise the real benefits that activity bestows upon us.

Benefits of Activity

The Physical, Mental, Social and psychological benefits of activity are well documented and yet activity is often under resourced and seen by many as secondary in the creation of support plans.

Activity, reduces Challenging Behaviour and improves Mental Health. Moderate physical recreation activities are known to reduce the symptoms of mild or moderate depression and anxiety through improved self-image, social skills, and mental health. Therapeutic recreation can be an effective method to treat depression in those with a Learning Disability and a mental health diagnosis.

The co-occurrence of physically limiting conditions and depression in LD circles is well documented. Untreated depression carries an enormous risk and cost.
